One of the best things about the Tahoe-Reno-Sparks area is the number of unique, local food and drink establishments that pepper Washoe County. From decadent mini donut shops to unique breweries, the biggest little city has it all. But where do you go when you just want a good old fashioned flavored soda pop? Two words.

Soda Love.

Hailing from southern Utah, two couples embarked on bringing this unique soda shop to downtown Sparks. Owners, Scott and Krista along with Brent and Sharna combined their business building skills with a little creativity and alas, Soda Love was born.

“We are still getting established and feel like we can grow. But if dreams came true we would love to grow Soda Love to multiple locations around Reno (and hopefully the world!)” -Sharna

Located in south Sparks, Nevada, Soda Love is a drive-thru only establishment that serves up twists to your favorite classic sodas. Guests have the option of ordering from their menu, which combines hand picked sodas that are mixed with flavored shots they call “kisses”, or creating a soda-kiss combo of their own. For example, my younger kiddos love the Secret Crush, a sweet mix of Fanta orange, with a vanilla and a cream kiss! It tastes like an old fashioned 50/50 ice cream bar and has become a must have treat after Mack’s gymnastics class every Monday. My teenager of course loves the Bae, a mix of Mountain Dew, peach & pina colada kiss, and vanilla cream kiss. One sip makes you feel like you’re on a tropical beach! Me, I’m a simple Diet Coke with a cherry kiss kind of girl. Oh, and with extra ice of course because they have what my kids call “the good crunchy ice”.

So how did these unique and delicious concoctions come to be? Sharna says it was a fun collaboration between the couples.

“Once we settled on Soda Love as the name it was so fun keeping that ‘love’ theme going. We wrote down as many fun drink names we could think of. Scott spouted off about 10 within the first five minutes and we knew we were onto something! Scott and Krista having their past drink shop, had all of the recipes of the best drinks. But we’ve also heard from our customers and our drink mixologists who work in the shop about some new recipes. That’s how we created our secret menu.”

Their menu doesn’t stop at soda, providing patrons with a small menu of treats that satisfy any craving. Their homemade $1 popcorn tastes just like the kind you can only get at the movie theater and their sugar cookies are to die for! Add a few smoothie recipes to the menu and Soda Love is the perfect one stop shop for after school treats or a midday pick me up. Sure you could go to a regular fast food drive-thru, but when it comes to good old fashioned quality service combined with a unique and satisfying menu, you will only find that at Soda Love. Supporting small, family owned businesses is always a plus in my mind too!

Stop by their Sparks location at 300 Pyramid Way, Ste 108. (From the south, make a quick right on C street after passing In-N-Out, and an immediate left into the driveway that leads you to their personal drive-thru.)
