Have we met?

Have we met?

This may never be the blog that wins awards, or the one that is featured in some trendy magazine, or even the one that makes me a millionaire.  To put it simply, it’s the culmination of a lot of years of dreaming. A dream to write about the things that make me smile, laugh, and cry. Add in a touch of sarcasm and wit and alas, a dream is born.  While the original blog was dreamt up before I had three kids and was getting lots of sleep, it’s now the blog that is the truest form of myself. Only took about 34 years to find it.  So who am I? I am the former at risk English teacher who hates grammar rules and uses punctuation incorrectly, but chose that route because of a love for books, words, and working with kids who are deemed unlovable. Disclaimer, if I use prepositions incorrectly or have a multitude of comma splices, let’s just add that to the “character” of this blog. I write like I envision myself speaking the words out loud to someone as if I am telling a story, which means using random punctuation that doesn’t fit into any rule book other than the one in my head. For example, I love ellipses. In my head they’re meant to cue a pause before continuing on, not to break up a long line of text. So I apologize now if they drive you crazy.

I digress.

I’m a fire wife who found her soul mate when she least expected it. I’m the nerdy Harry Potter fan. A music fanatic. The OCD mom who has anxiety when there aren’t carpet lines but also the hot mess that avoids dishes at all costs and whose laundry never seems to make it to its home. I am the wannabe fashion icon with 17 drawers full of yoga pants.  I’m the proclaimer of the phrase, “I would never be a stay at home mom” who now soaks in endless days of cuddles and giggles with my three little humans. I am the girl who is able to do this because I took a giant leap of faith in the entrepreneurial world. Because of that leap I now spend my days sharing my love for that world while those same three little humans crawl on my lap. I’m a recent Nevada transplant and I love every inch of this beautiful state. I’m a foodie who decompresses through cooking, a freelance makeup artist and lover of beauty products. Sounding a little like a “jack of all trades, master of none?” Maybe so, but I’m a hopeless dreamer who believes in using your gifts to bring joy to the world. So…have we met?

Chances are you may know friends in similar lives with similar characteristics. I hold tightly, those eclectic things which I love because they ground me. Whether it’s food, friendships, stories about my humans, hot mom moments, or plain old music playlists…these things make me smile, laugh, cry, and sometimes stand in awe. I am anchored to them. And I am excited to share this anchored life with you.

Xoxo,

-Meg
